Equipments for
treatment of Marine Pollution:
1-oil spill
Oil spill is release of liquid petroleum
hydrocarbon into the sea waters, due to the followings:
·
Sinking or leakage of Oil Carrying Vessels.
·
Illegal dumping by Industries.
·
Terrorist activities.
·
Natural Disasters.
Equipment s for
removing Oil / chemical spill to reduce Marine Pollution
A) Floating oil
To collect the
floating oil from the sea surface, many equipment s are used:
·
Sorbent
·
Boom
·
Skimmer
·
Tugs
·
Burning
·
Dispersants
B) Oil mixed with water
1 - Oily water separator.
2 - Sweeper boat.
II - Air emissions from marine
vessels
Emission control
technologies can be implemented either as a feature of the original design of
the vessel or as a retrofit control device added onto an existing vessel which
reduce Marine Pollution.
Emission control
technologies:
1 -
In engine modifications.
· Using side valves in
fuel injunction.
· Exhaust Gas
Recirculation (EGR) takes the exhaust gas from the engine and cools and
re-routes it back into the engines air intake.
2- Water-based controls
The Humid Air Motor (HAM) uses heated intake air, saturated
with water vapor typically produced by the evaporation of seawater, this
technology utilizes the heat generated by the engine to produce the
temperatures needed to vaporize the seawater.
3. After-treatment on-board controls
· Selective Catalytic
Reduction (SCR).
· Seawater Scrubbing.
· Shore-side controls.
